If your iGlucose Plus meter displays an error message, find the exact message below for the cause and steps to resolve it. Messages are listed as they appear on the meter screen.
"Low battery shutdown"
The battery is too low to operate and the meter will turn off.
- Connect the included Micro USB charger to the port on the bottom of the meter.
- Plug into a power outlet and wait until the battery icon turns solid green before testing.
"Temperature error, operating temperature must be within 50–104°F"
The meter is outside its safe operating temperature range. Any result obtained in this condition may be inaccurate.
- Move to an area with a temperature between 50°F and 104°F (10°C and 40°C).
- Wait 45 minutes for the meter and test strips to reach room temperature.
- Do not artificially heat or cool the meter.
- Repeat the test with a new test strip.
ℹ️ This error commonly occurs when a meter is left in a hot car or brought in from cold weather. The 45-minute wait is required before testing.
"Sampling error, please insert new strip and retest"
Blood or control solution was applied before the meter displayed the "Apply a drop of blood" prompt.
- Discard the used test strip.
- Insert a new test strip and wait for the internal check to complete (about 3 seconds).
- Wait for the blood drop icon and "Apply a drop of blood" message before applying your sample.
"Insert a new strip, wait for prompt & retest"
The inserted test strip has already been used or is damaged.
- Remove and discard the strip.
- Insert a new, unused strip from the vial.
- Wait for the "Apply a drop of blood" prompt before applying your sample.
"Low blood volume, please insert new strip and retest"
The blood sample applied to the strip was too small for a reading.
- Discard the used test strip.
- Insert a new test strip.
- Prick your finger again and squeeze gently from the base toward the tip to produce a larger drop before applying.
💡 The meter needs a minimum of 0.75 µL of blood — about the size of a small dot. If you regularly get this error, try adjusting the depth setting on your lancing device.
"Strip error, please check strip and re-insert"
The meter detected an issue reading the strip code.
- Remove the strip and check it for visible damage or contamination.
- Re-insert the strip firmly until it clicks.
- If the error appears again, discard the strip and use a new one.
- Make sure you are using iGlucose brand test strips — other brands will not work with this meter.
"Signal failure, please insert new strip"
The meter detected an abnormal electrical signal from the test strip during testing.
- Remove and discard the current strip.
- Insert a new test strip and repeat the test.
- If the error continues, run a quality control test with your RIGHTEST Control Solution GC550 to verify the meter is working correctly.
"Device malfunction, please test with control solution"
The meter has detected an internal malfunction.
- Run a quality control test using the RIGHTEST Control Solution GC550.
- If the control solution result falls within the acceptable range printed on your test strip vial, the meter is functioning correctly and you can continue testing.
