To test your blood sugar: insert a test strip, wait for the "Apply a drop of blood" prompt, apply a blood sample to the strip, and your result will display within 5 seconds and sync to Lark automatically.
What you'll need
- iGlucose Plus blood glucose meter (charged)
- iGlucose blood glucose test strips (check the expiration date — discard vials more than 3 months after opening)
- Lancing device and lancet
ℹ️ Test strips are not included with your meter. To order supplies, open the Lark app, tap the + icon, select "Devices & supplies," then "Order more testing supplies."
Step 1: Prepare
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry well.
- Turn the meter on by pressing and holding the Home button (center button).
- The screen shows either a full apple icon (Before Meal) or an eaten apple icon (After Meal). Press the Home button again to switch if needed.
Step 2: Insert the test strip
- Remove one test strip from the vial and immediately close the cap.
- Hold the strip between your thumb and middle finger with the view window facing you.
- Insert the strip straight down into the test strip port at the top of the meter until it clicks and stops firmly. The meter will wake from Standby Mode automatically.
- Wait about 3 seconds for the internal check to complete. Do not apply blood yet.
- When the screen shows a blood drop icon and "Apply a drop of blood," you're ready. You have 120 seconds to apply your sample.
⚠️ Do not apply blood before the "Apply a drop of blood" message appears. Applying blood early causes an error and you'll need to start over with a new strip.
Step 3: Get a blood sample
- Use the lancing device to prick the side of a fingertip.
- Gently squeeze from the base of the finger toward the tip until a small drop of blood forms. The test requires a minimum of 0.75 µL.
💡 If the drop is too small, squeeze gently again. A sample above 3.0 µL can contaminate the test strip port.
Step 4: Apply blood to the strip
- Touch and hold the blood drop to the edge of the sample port at the tip of the test strip.
- Hold until the view window fills completely — it turns from yellow to red when enough blood has been absorbed.
- If the view window doesn't fill completely, discard the strip and start again with a new one.
Step 5: Read your result
- The meter counts down from 5 to 0 and displays your result in mg/dL within 5 seconds.
- Your result transmits to your Lark app automatically over the cellular connection. No action needed on your phone.
Step 6: Remove the used strip
- Hold the strip by its right edge, rotate it upward (counterclockwise), and pull it out.
- Dispose of the used strip and lancet per your healthcare provider's instructions.
- Wash your hands after handling used supplies.
