There are two common ways to check whether your glucometer is working correctly.
Liquid control solution test
The liquid control solution included with your glucometer lets you verify your device is functioning properly. Use it when you open a new container of test strips, if you drop your monitor, or if you receive unexpected readings. If the result falls outside the expected range, refer to your device manual for next steps.
Laboratory verification
For additional reassurance, you can compare a reading from your glucometer with a blood test taken at the same time at a lab or doctor's office. Bring your glucometer to the appointment and test alongside the lab sample — results should be close.
