Weight readings can vary between scales for external and device-related reasons.
External factors
Natural weight fluctuation can cause readings to vary by 5 to 7 pounds. For the most consistent readings:
- Weigh yourself at the same time each day (ideally in the morning before eating)
- Wear little or no clothing
- Designate one day per week as your official weigh-in day
Device-specific guidance
- Lark Scale — Designed for accuracy over a 5-year lifetime without calibration. If you're seeing large discrepancies, contact our support team via the webform.
- Bodytrace Scale — Self-calibrates hourly. Lay it flat for an hour, then take your reading.
- iHealth Scale — Make sure the scale is on a hard, flat, level surface before each use.
⚠️ Store your scale flat on its feet at all times. Storing it upright or on its side affects the tare value and will produce inaccurate readings.
